Click "Templates" button on the left:

Then click another "Templates" button on the left:

Choose your template:

Choose "index.php":

Now you need to copy counter code. To do so, go to the "Install Code" page:

And click “Copy” button:

In the Joomla: add the counter code to footer and click "Save":
